"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit" Matthew 28:19 (NASB)

"And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come." Matthew 24:14 (NASB)

Alta Vista Baptist Church takes seriously the command of Christ to "make disciples of all nations". Reaching beyond the confines of our own church, our missions outreach is vitally important and an integral segment of our overall ministry. We are a people deeply interested in sharing the Gospel with those who have never heard it. We are committed to sharing our faith with all peoples here and in other nations.

The Missions Committee shapes missions policy, establishes support levels, assists in educating the congregation, and helps the church to maintain contact with those who represent us throughout the world. An annual Missions Conference is held at Alta Vista Baptist Church.

Our worldwide outreach is in association with the Foreign Missions Board of the Fellowship of Evangelical Baptist Churches in Canada, and we are represented in major ministries in Asia, Europe, South America and right next door in French-speaking Quebec. Dozens of missionaries are supported financially and in prayer, and many are included directly on our church's budget. Some of the geographic areas in which Alta Vista Baptist supported Missionaries are currently working are:

Over the years, several Alta Vista Baptist members have gone into Christian service, both in Canada and abroad. We believe that local churches are the means that God is using for the recruitment, training and supporting of missions "in all nations".

Alta Vista Baptist Missionaries are also connected through the Internet. The Alta Vista Missionaries and the Missions Committee communicate frequently, allowing an comfortable exchange of information, support, and fellowship.

Many missionaries and their families distribute information sheets and/or picture postcards of themselves for those who wish to learn about or support them. A selection of this material is available in the pamphlet display rack in the main church auditorium foyer. Also in the main church auditorium foyer is a bulletin board displaying pictures of most of the Missionaries and their families and a current selection of missionary reports and activity summaries.
